Harry Styles, the one and only, was unveiled as Rolling Stone’s first-ever international cover star on Monday.

Harry further discussed his role as a gallery director who falls in love with a police officer in the 1950s, a time when homosexuality was illegal, in the upcoming movie My Policeman.

In response to a query, Harry stated, “Now, it’s fairly difficult to imagine how someone could be gay.

That was forbidden. Everyone, including myself, I believe, has their own road toward coming to terms with their sexuality.”

“This isn’t like, ‘This is a homosexual story about these men being gay. To me, it’s about love and wasting time. Two guys made out so frequently in homosexual films, which kind of takes the tenderness out of it. There will, I think, be some viewers who were present when it was against the law to be gay, so [Michael] wanted to demonstrate how gentle, caring, and sensitive it is.

The response ended up becoming a very popular meme. A few tweets related to the criticism that went viral can be found on the microblogging platform.

So sure, this whole thing has given rise to a new meme. Harry hasn’t responded to the reaction, but if he does, we’ll let you know.
