Last night’s performance by Harry Style featured a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96, Harry Styles interrupted his performance at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night to honor her.
A historic reign of more than 70 years came to an end when the Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral.
Harry Styles, 28, took a minute to express his condolences on stage in the US as celebrities from all around the world paid tribute to the adored queen.
After urging his audience to enjoy the show as much as he would, he said in a solemn tone,
“From my hometown, there was some very terrible news today: the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.”
I’d like to ask for a round of applause in honor of your 70 years of service.
He said, “Thank you, Madison Square Garden,” as the Queen received thunderous ovation from the crowd.
After 70 years on the throne, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away. Buckingham Palace made the announcement of her passing on September 8, 2022.
She passed away at the age of 96 at her house at Balmoral in the company of her family, which also included her grandson Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and her son and heir apparent Charles, the Prince of Wales.
The monarch passed away on Thursday at the age of 96. She was last seen at her favorite Ascot in 2021.
Prior to the monarch’s passing, Sir Elton John and Stephen Fry were in charge of the celebrity tributes. Buckingham Palace had previously announced that Her Majesty had passed away on Thursday afternoon with her family, the Royal Family, by her side.
Sir Elton called the Queen “an amazing presence” and expressed how much he would miss her.
‘I am shocked to learn of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s demise, along with the rest of the country,’ he added.
‘She was a joy to be around and guided the nation through some of its finest and worst crises with dignity and a sincere sense of kindness.’
‘From my early years till now, Queen Elizabeth has played a significant role in my life, and I will miss her greatly.’
When Fry said,
“Oh no. Oh my. Oh my God. Mercedez mon âme. Oh lor. Heck,’ Dame Helen Mirren, who has twice played the Queen, said of the late queen, calling her “the essence of dignity.”
Daniel Craig also expressed his admiration for the Queen and said that she leaves behind “an incredible legacy” and “will be sadly missed.”
After it was said at noon that the Queen was under medical monitoring and “comfortable,” news of her passing broke shortly after.
King Charles III, the Princess Royal, the Duke of York, and the Earl of Wessex, along with the Duchess of Cornwall and the Countess of Wessex, rushed to be with the monarch in her dying hours.
The BBC has confirmed that today’s broadcast schedule has been changed as the nation now enters a period of grief.
The network announced that BBC One will run a series of BBC News specials to cover the Queen’s passing until 6.30 p.m. on Friday.
The broadcaster is not providing exhaustive coverage of the Queen due to adjustments to the schedule, although BBC Two has also altered the day’s planned programming.
After it was revealed that there were fears about the monarch’s condition, the BBC halted its normal programming at noon on Thursday.
